Williamsburg Hill is known to be a haunted spot in central IL. It's home to Ridge Cemetery which is the only remaining part of the town that once was Williamsburg. When my sister came to town last week she insisted that I take her. So my sister, husband, brother in law and I all made the treck up the hill to find the cemetery. It's surrounded by woods that are constantly making the strangest noises, and there were at least 20 turkey vultures swarming over us all day, but other than that we found the cemetery to be incredibly peaceful and calm. We had a really fun day messing around with photography and waiting for a haunted moment. I brought my Diana Mini and just scanned in my film today, so this lot is a mixture of favorites from the roll of film and my trusty digital. Enjoy!

Brilliant shots! ( As always..:) Ok, this might be weird but how cool isn't that gravestone, the typography is deadly ( no pun intended..) I'm in a typography daze at the moment and my biggest misery is that our printer's run out of ink. Yes, that's the biggest problem in my life.. haha ehh.

I was totally thinking the same thing! I was in awe with how cool the typography was on some of the stones ... I really think that is a trend that needs to come back ... graveyard art?

eeh. bloody tourists. lol! good pics though. I've lived in the area my whole life and live in one of the oldest houses in the area,on the lakewood road. It was actually built by some of my family members in the late 1800's. everyone says that "will-hill" is haunted but I never seen anything despite those weird noises, lights, and sounds around my house and the area which can be seen everywhere else as well. I don't believe the area is haunted, it just gives people creepy feelings because of it's history and reputation of a cult causing some havoc in the 80's- 90's. although my mother did see me talking to a ghost when I was three or four, I don't remember, so I really don't believe her. lol!
ReplyDeleteI have lived in shelbyville most of my life. We used to party up there before the vandalism. My friend and I was chased by the ghost cop, pulled over and as he approached our vehicle, lights and all disappeared. I gets chills 20 years later. I wouldn't go up there at night if you paid me. I would take a polygraph to prove my experience. My friend has recently talked to me about this, and he wouldn't either. I'm a sain man, but I know what we saw.
