Weekend Paint Projects!

Omgosh... life is good, am I right? I love spring, the trees actually have leaves on them now and flowers are blooming, drawbacks include bugs. I guess I'm trying to say my life would be perfect if I never had to come in contact with bugs.

Today is a big day on the blog because I will be reaching 10,000 views! I am totally ecstatic about reaching this milestone within just three months of my blog being live, thank you, thank you .. i love you.

So remember how I told you that something in my life would be pink after this weekend ... I was being totally serious. Do you want to see it? you probably already peeked didn't you ... I don't blame you.

This mirror was such and easy transformation and it's just so vibrant and happy now. I bought the mirror for $5 at goodwill on Friday and my excitement about it was doubled when the little old lady behind me in the check out line told me she knew I would fix it up really nice ... she was awesome.

I finished another project this weekend, which happens to be another $5.00 goodwill score. I actually picked this one up last fall and hemmed and hawed on it all winter. In a moment of pure subconscious glory as I was drifting off to sleep one night, it came to me in a vision/dream with gold legs and a mint green top. Obviously, I didn't question it... in fact I was so excited about it I forgot to take a before picture! I'm so happy with this unexpected color combo ... score for my subconscious!

So what do you think... should I sell them, keep them, burn them? I simply must hear from you.

  1. Oh my gosh! I love your pink mirror, you're making me want to go to good will more often. Mint green and gold!!!! Perfect together! I love how the lady in the line said she knew you would fix that mirror up nicely :) Congrats on 10,000 views!!!!! I don't know if you should sell these items or keep them. If it were me I would totally want to keep them..... But then again I occasionally believe there's a hoarder living inside of me.

  5. And what colors did you use on the table? Cassie already asked my other question about that gorgeous mirror.

    1. colors for the table were a light mint green on top (something that I found on the sale rack) and I actually sprayed the bottom first with Krylon gold. I coated the entire table with water based poly twice. Thanks for asking!

  8. Would you mind telling me how the end table top is holding up after a year? I would like to paint an old 50's table, but really worry about the paint just scratching off.... sashasawyer@yahoo.com

    1. Hey merelyLooking! Wow, I can't believe this post was a year ago!! The table has held up great. I use it in my office and it holds my scanner, it doesn't get a lot of exposure to my kids ;) If you have a table you want to paint and use in a high traffic area, you can sand the table down, or use liquid sandpaper, then apply a coat of oil based primer(KILZ) which will protect against mold, water spots, and even keep knots in wood from seeping through. Once you've sanded and primed your piece, you can paint it with any latex or oil based paint (although I recommend latex for an easier job). Your oil based primer will have created a great bond with the table and will also bond well with the paint, you'll have to work pretty hard to scuff it up!
